Books to read in 2015 #changeyourtomorrow

This is a open letter to a friend of mine that wants to leave his job but is unsure how to do it. After writing this letter to him I decided post it to share the wealth of information I have gathered over time.

Hey buddy,

So I was thinking about what you were saying and it is possible to break away from your 9 to 5 job. As we discussed on the phone there is no magic bullet to do this but a lot of hard work. As you know it has been a long struggle for me to get to where I am and I have read several books on the subject of how to break yourself from a normal everyday job. Here is a listing of those books that helped me out greatly.

Habit Stacking by S.J. Scott

This is a short read that I think is a good place to start. It teaches you how to make small habits that will help change your day to day life. Such as reading only 10 mins a day, then slowly ramping it up to the point were you could read for over an hour and not realize it. Because you are steeped in the 9 to 5 world I would say this is a good start. You have to slowly train yourself to take on entrepreneurship habits instead of trying to jump right in.

The $100 Startup  by  Chris Guillebeau
This book I found to be a great way to renew hope in leaving your job to work for yourself. In this book he goes over companies that started for as little as $100 bucks and grew to being real power house. Chris Guilebeau also has another book called “The Art of Non-Conformity”. Which I have read several times. That book is more so a play by play of how he left his job at Fed-Ex to becoming this guru on how to break away from your current job to find real independence working for yourself.

Big Brother is watching in you! In 1984! #mustreads

I was watching a episode of my favorite quiz show Qi hosted by none other than Stephen Fry. During an episode he stated that the book 1984 is the most non-read, read book. I know that sounds confusing but here is the deal.

According to whatever study that was made on this book. They found that more people have watched the movie (made for TV or theatrical version) than have actually read the book, and as we all know books are normally better than the movies. For that reason alone I decided to find a copy of this book and give it a shot. At over 300 pages I hope to knock this one out before Christmas. That is if I can find the time with the holiday rush to sit down and read.

How to Fight Presidents: Defending Yourself Against the Bada**es Who Ran This Country

So I am a fan of Cracked, I go to their website, and I really enjoy the stuff they make on YouTube. When I found out that Daniel O’Brien wrote a book about American Presidents I just had to see what he had to say.

Firstly I would have to throw out there that this is not a book to read if you want to learn more about one single President nor does it highlight just a couple of Presidents. This book goes from George Washington to President Obama giving you fun facts about each President and also some of the crazy almost ninja like things a Presidents did before and during the their time in office. It also gives you suggestions on how to beat them in a fight if you ever got a hold of a time machine and a pair of boxing gloves.

Have Space Suit—Will Travel

I will admit it I use Audible so that I can “read on the go”. Well they had a ‘deal of the day’ earlier this week it was for Robert A. Heinlein’s “Have Space Suit—Will Travel”. Now I have read other Heinlein books one of which I enjoyed was Starship Troopers.

I didn’t know anything about Have Space Suit—Will Travel. All I knew was it was on sale, and it had a pretty cool outline.

The app that helped me fall in love with music again

I don’t normally give reviews for Apps because I feel like most of them just do there job.

Meaning Angry Birds is suppose to be fun so I don’t find it to be an amazing app. But an amazing app to me is Google Music.

It will make you love music again. The app is now fully integrated with Youtube. So if I look for a band or artist I like. I can see their Hits, Singles, Albums, and now Music Videos. Also if a song you are playing was turned into a music video you can click on a “video” icon and the music video will play instead of just the music.

I can’t tell you how awesome it is to play some of my playlists to discover there was a music video for it. Way to go Google Music you made music awesome again!
